We have negotiated special rates for the 73rd NZDA National Conference 2021 and AGM at the Crowne Plaza, a 4.5 star hotel.

A courtyard room is available from $185 per night including full breakfast, or for a twin share (2 x double beds) and 2 x full breakfast is available from $205 per night.

Alternative Accommodation

The conference is being held in June as this is traditionally a quiet time in Queenstown,  when flights and accommodation is normally more available and cheaper. 
Please help support the local by booking direct rather than use a booking site like "Booking.com". These overseas sites take a commission and this money does not stay in NZ. It is also harder to get a refund when you book through a booking site.

Rydges Lakeland resort Queenstown - A large hotel approx 3 minutes walk along the lakefront, the rooms are a little older than the Crowne Plaza but last check these were available from $125 per night (Excluding breakfast)



Flights

These WILL BE cheaper the earlier you book. At the moment Air NZ are offering flexible fares and state "No fees for changes to flight date or time on bookings until June 30, 2021." So book now!

Air NZ fly direct from Christchurch, Wellington and Auckland with many connecting flights to the regions as you are probably aware.

Jetstar fly direct from Auckland*

The airport is a 15 mins drive from the airport serviced regularly by shuttle buses and taxis.  
Super Shuttle run frequently and is around $12pp - pre booking is recommended. Alternatively a taxi will be around $40

*Flights can occasionally  be effected by snow in June. Remember that Air NZ fly to Queenstown more frequently, should you get delayed or rerouted

Driving

Queenstown is 3.5 hours from Dunedin or 6 hours from Christchurch, be aware of snow on the Lindis pass and Crowne Range at this time of year. If you fly to Christchurch and rent a vehicle, please check they supply chains.

There is parking available at the hotel (must be booked in advance) or free parking along the water front.

There will be a free courtesy bus to the functions on Friday and Saturday night, Parking is plentiful on the Friday night at Remarkables park if you choose to arrive there first and check into the hotel later.

How to register 

The weekend is ultimately made up of 4 elements:-

1. AGM - the National Secretary as per the  constitution (voting rights etc) is there to ensure this is the formal part of conference *
2. The popular and national AHT (Antler, Horn and Tusk) and Photo competition
3. Conference - Guest Speakers to educate, inspire and excite members of the association
4. Networking, and workshop options - your chance to share knowledge and friendships

*The National Secretary has helped facilitate discussions (that everyone was invited to attend via Zoom) to ensure that the AGM is a productive 3 hour AGM (and less of the onerous and laborious 2 day event.)

Zoom option
Due to the successful Zoom conference last year, there is also this option available as well. However to ensure there is professional audio and video streaming, there is a cost to this. 

When you register, choose "Zoom attendance" $174 (a great option to stream to committee members keen to be involved but can't attend in person)

Attending Conference in person (this closes 12th May)
We encourage as many members as possible to attend. As explained above, the formal part ie the AGM on Saturday morning is run by the National Secretary and you will need to register to represent your branch. It is imperative you register for Covid tracking purposes too.

If you want to just attend for the guest speakers on the Saturday and the workshops on the Sunday, there is still a cost to attend as we are providing conferencing facilities, providing morning & afternoon tea and lunch. This cost is $174pp

Attending only the Functions
There will be a fantastic opportunity to listen to guest speakers on the evening functions. Members (really easy to travel from Southland and Otago) are encouraged to come up for the weekend and attend these.

Note on costs:
The cost $174 to attend the AGM and conference not only covers lunch and morning/ afternoon tea, but covers costs associated with securing guest speakers, the technology to Zoom the conference and the hire of the conference facilities and all the behind the scenes expenses.

The branch have worked hard to keep costs to a minimum and will be running the conference with volunteers from the membership.

Covid-19
Due to the obvious possibility of a return to Covid restrictions, you are advised to book the Crowne Plaza accommodation as we negotiated Covid cancellation clauses or if staying elsewhere please book direct with a hotel. This is because it is not easy to get refunds when you use a booking site.

We are also limiting the conference AGM to 100 people to allow for social distancing if required.

Saturday Sightseeing Wine & Lunch Tour 10am - 4pm $100

Bringing your partner to the conference ?

We have arranged for a tour to collect from the hotel at 10am and take in the sights of Arrowtown, a local view point, the bungy bridge (to watch if not keen to jump) and then a number of wineries with lunch included. Returning around 4pm

Alternatively if you only want to ONLY attend one or both functions, that is possible however priority is given to conference attendees as we are restricted on space and these will be available once AGM registrations are completed :-
