We’ve got a big night lined up for our next meeting.
Roy Sloan MNZM, General Manager of the Fiordland Wapiti Foundation and founding trustee of the Rakiura Whitetail Trust, will be joining us to share his insights from two decades leading some of New Zealand’s most significant hunter-led conservation projects.
Roy has helped shape Fiordland into a world-recognised example of hunters and conservation working together, removing over 18,000 red deer and hybrids, restoring native species like the whio, and managing a quality wapiti herd that’s admired globally.
He’ll also give an update on the current Herd of Special Interest (HOSI) proposal for Fiordland wapiti and the newly formed Rakiura Whitetail Trust’s work to protect Stewart Island’s whitetail herd.
Joining Roy is Cam McKay from Points South, who supplies the Fiordland Wapiti Foundation with their gear. Cam will share a bit about the partnership, the demands of Fiordland hunting gear, and how Points South is working to support hunters in the field.
